From 1993 to the present, the USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center has conducted several studies of microbiological quality of water. The study topics range from contamination of private well water to recreational water quality in lakes. Each of these studies has provided important information to resource managers, helping them understand the factors affecting occurrence and transport of microbiological contaminants in the hydrologic system. This summarizes the studies that have been conducted, and the relevant findings of those studies. |
