Dr. Charles A. Cravotta, Research Geochemist in the Pennsylvania Water Science Center and Keith B.C. Brady, retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, have received the 2016 Dalway J. Swaine Award for best refereed paper in coal and hydrocarbon source rock geochemistry from The Society for Organic Petrology (TSOP). The Dal Swaine Award is presented to the authors of the paper judged by senior TSOP members to be the best for the year in inorganic or organic geochemistry and/or mineralogy of coal or hydrocarbon source rocks. The award was inaugurated in early 2010. The award is named in honor of Dr. Dalway J. Swaine (1920-2013), whose work over many years at Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) included extensive research on multiple aspects of inorganics in coal. Chuck and Keith's paper was chosen from over 100 papers published in 2015.
