Radionuclides in Groundwater in Southeastern Pennsylvania

Radon map from Sloto & Senior, 1998 The U.S. Geological Survey has been conducting studies on the occurrence of radionuclides in the groundwater of southeastern Pennsylvania since 1985. Groundwater has been sampled for radium‑224, radium‑226, radium‑228, radon‑222, lead‑210, uranium, and gross alpha- and beta-particle activities. Naturally occurring elevated concentrations are related to geologic, geochemical, and hydrologic settings.
