STATION.--01552000LOYALSOCK CREEK AT LOYALSOCKVILLE, PA LOCATION.--Lat 41`19'30", long 76`54'46",Lycoming County, Hydrologic Unit 02050206,on right bank 30 ft downstream from bridge on StateHighway 973 at Loyalsockville,2.5 mi downstream from Wallis Run, and7.3 mi upstream from mouth. DRAINAGE AREA.--443 mi2. PERIOD OF RECORD.--August 1925 toSeptember 1974, October 1975 to current year. Prior toOctober 1925, monthly discharge only, published in WSP 1302.Prior to October 1969, published as "at Loyalsock". GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum ofgage is 585.63 ft above sea level. August 1925 toSept. 16, 1926, nonrecording gage, and Sept. 17, 1926, toJune 13, 1988, water-stage recorder at site 500 feetdownstream on left bank at same datum. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Floodof Sept. 26, l975, reached a stage of 14.50 ft, fromfloodmark, discharge, 84,600 ft3/s, from rating curveextended above 16,000 ft3/s on basis of slope-areameasurement of peak flow. FLOOD STAGE.--NOAA, National WeatherService river forecast station flood stage provided to USGSApril 1999 is 12 feet. COOPERATION.--Funding for the operationof this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department ofEnvironmental Protection, the National Weather Service,and the U.S. Geological Survey.
